Cooking on Makus Marble in Amsterdam

Cooking on the Makus Marble on Amsterdam's Prinsengracht

Corry and Martijn live in one of Amsterdam's most beautiful locations. For several months now, they have been cooking on the Makus Marble. We paid them a visit.

The kitchen as the heart of the home

"Our kitchen is part of our living room and therefore holds both literally and figuratively a central place in our lives. This is where our family gathers, and where we meet family and friends. Eating and drinking together is often the reason to meet and listen to each other's stories."

From gas to induction: a conscious choice

Corry and Martijn chose induction for sustainability reasons. They had already switched to LED lighting and monumental double glazing. Induction was the logical next step.

"We find it important to keep our footprint as low as possible. Induction was a logical next step to reduce gas consumption."

Getting used to induction?

"Not at all. Having grown up with gas and cooked on gas all our lives, we thought we would need some time to adjust, but that turned out not to be the case at all."

"From day 1, cooking has been super smooth. The Makus responds quickly when you turn it lower or higher. It's even much more precise to control than gas. Cleaning the hob is a relief."

Flow in the kitchen

"A week after the Marble was installed, we immediately had such a moment. A 6-course dinner for 18 people in honor of a birthday. It was fantastic how we could clarify butter for the ravioli at the lowest setting, simultaneously grill green asparagus using the bridge functions, and prepare the zucchini soup at another cooking point. That gave a lot of energy."

Why the Makus Marble?

"We were already in love with the Honeycomb. We were delighted when we saw that the Marble was introduced. The Marble exudes a classic, luxurious, and timeless atmosphere that we appreciate, and it invites cooking."

Do you recommend Makus?

"Absolutely! The hob is of high quality, Makus provides excellent service, it's a beautiful design, and you contribute to a more circular economy."
