Do I need to buy new pans?

If you cook with gas, your pans may not work on an induction hob. You can check this yourself.

To function properly on an induction hob, it is important that the bottom of the pan is magnetic. You can check this by holding a magnet against it. Does the magnet stick? Then the bottom is magnetic.

In addition, the bottom of the pan must be flat enough to make good contact with the induction hob. It is possible that a pan has warped due to regular heating on gas. In that case, it will be heated less effectively on an induction hob.

If your pan is magnetic but slightly warped, we recommend trying out the pans. There's a chance they still work perfectly!

Can a Makus get scratched, and is that covered by the warranty?

Signs of wear and tear can appear on the induction hob, for example, scratches caused by grains of sand. Sand that is on vegetables can get under a pan.

If you then slide that pan across the induction glass, scratches will appear. A grain of sand is extremely hard! You can prevent this by keeping the bottom of your pan clean.

And in any case, do not use sharp objects on the induction hob. Makus does not provide a guarantee for signs of wear such as scratches in the glass.

Does an induction hob make noise?

An induction hob is not silent. Sometimes it seems that the induction hob is making a noise, but it's actually the pans.

The ventilation of the induction hob makes a blowing sound. Ventilation is important to ensure that the coils do not overheat.

Read more about noise and induction in our blog about it.

Can a Makus induction hob be flush-mounted into the countertop?

Yes, a MAKUS induction hob can be flush-mounted in the countertop. You can find the exact dimensions for flush-mounting in the product specifications of the different Makus models.

What is the difference between ceramic cooking and induction cooking?

What are the dimensions of the Makus induction hob with integrated extractor?

External dimensions
The external dimensions are the measurements of the Makus Moon.
WxD: 900mmx520mm
Height: 212.5mm

Cut-out dimensions
The cut-out dimensions are the measurements required for installing the Makus Moon in your countertop.

WxD: 840mmx490mm. This is the cut-out in your countertop.
Height (incl. countertop): 240mm. This is the space required under the hob, as this is where the Makus Moon's motor is located (as with most induction hobs with integrated extraction).

How do I clean the filters?

Stainless Steel Grease Filter
The Makus Moon is easy to maintain. The stainless steel grease filter can be cleaned in the dishwasher. It is customary to do this about once a week.

Odor Filter (Carbon Filter)
By cleaning and drying the odor filter (carbon filter) every 2-3 months with intensive use, it can be made suitable for a new period of worry-free use.

Cleaning is done by rinsing it by hand with warm water (50-55 degrees). This can be done 4 to 5 times. Drying is done by placing the filter in the oven at 60 degrees for 60 minutes. This distinguishes Makus from many other brands, where a new odor filter has to be purchased repeatedly.

The carbon filter must be replaced periodically, depending on the intensity of cooking:
- Intensive: 15 - 18 months
- Medium: 18 - 24 months
- Low: 24 - 27 months

Can I see the Makus in person somewhere?

The Makus Moon can currently be viewed at the owner's premises in Hilversum. You can make an appointment by emailing: merel@makuskitchen.com.

Can the Makus induction hob with integrated extraction fit into an 80cm wide cabinet?

Yes, the Makus Moon induction hob fits in an IKEA kitchen. There are just a few things you need to consider.

- The Makus Moon must be placed between two IKEA cabinets.

- The Makus Moon cannot be placed at the end of a kitchen island.

The Makus Moon is extra-large (90cm!). The widest IKEA cabinet is 80cm. Before the kitchen is installed, you need to make (or have someone make) a cut-out in both the left and right intermediate panels.

Read the Makus Moon manual for an IKEA kitchen here.

What are the technical specifications of the Makus with extraction?

All technical specifications can be found via the following link:

(The specifications of the Makus Terra Pink are the same)

What kind of filters does the Makus with extraction use?

Makus Moon is an induction hob with integrated extraction. The integrated extractor removes grease and odours from the cooking fumes.

The extractor consists of two filter systems. A grease filter for the grease from the cooking fumes and an odour filter for the cooking odours. The Makus Moon comes standard with a carbon filter for removing cooking odours from the cooking fumes. You can order new odour filters here.

How many zones does the Makus with extraction have?

The Makus Moon has 4 cooking zones, each measuring 19 x 22. Both on the left and right, 2 cooking zones can be combined into one large zone, also known as a flex zone.

Thanks to the centralized control panel and the large dimensions of the Makus Moon (90cmx52cm), the cooking zones of the Makus are extra large.

How do I combine the Makus Moon or Makus Terra Pink in my kitchen?

The Makus Moon pairs well with natural, composite, or stainless steel countertops. The online Makus Moon Product Magazine features various material mood boards incorporating the Makus Moon. Do you want to know if the Makus Moon suits your countertop? Then order a sample, or bring a sample of your future countertop when viewing the Makus Moon.

Am I missing a drawer because of the Makus Moon?

Due to an integrated extractor, there are limited layout options for the space directly under the induction hob. In consultation with your kitchen designer, there is space
for, for example, a shallow drawer or a cabinet directly under the hob.

However, due to the integrated extractor, there is no room for, for example, a deep (cutlery) drawer or an oven directly under the hob.
