MAKUS was in the spotlight in the VT Wonen kitchen special. This annual publication showcases the most important trends and developments in kitchens, design, and interiors. For the 2023 edition, MAKUS was asked to share its vision on today's kitchen and the role of colored design induction cooktops.
The beginning of MAKUS
The idea for MAKUS originated in 2017. Founder Merel Philippart worked as a sustainability consultant and was involved in the transition to natural gas-free living.
The focus was mainly on technology. Solar panels, insulation, and induction. But one question remained underexposed: how do we make this change appealing?
From that idea, MAKUS was born. A colored design induction cooktop that is not only functional but also becomes part of the interior.
Why color is important in the kitchen
The kitchen has evolved into a central part of the interior. Materials, colors, and finishes are carefully matched to the rest of the space.
Nevertheless, the cooktop often remains a black, technical element detached from the design.
